AV Sales Engineer – Meeting Rooms/Spaces

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic AV Sales Engineer to join our team as a Unified Collaboration Specialist. The AV Sales Engineer is a key technical advisor and trusted consultant to our customers and sales teams and has the primary responsibility for designing our clients’ collaboration spaces and solutions. 

We are looking for someone that has the combined technical knowledge and customer-facing communication skills to support the sales process from discovery and design to proposal and close with a smooth handoff to the AV Services team for implementation. 

The ideal candidate understands the complexity of AV/UC environments and is passionate about helping organizations build smart, easily adopted, and future-ready meeting spaces. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-own the sales process from Needs Analysis to Closure with the Sales Rep.
  • Coordinate and support Sales Reps with account planning and business reviews.
  • Coordinate and support sales reps with client follow-up and touchpoints to facilitate ongoing information sharing and proactive feedback to close deals faster.
  • Design customized collaboration solutions tailored to client requirements.
  • Produce system diagrams, equipment lists, and detailed scopes of work (SOW).
  • Identify and implement changes to maximize efficiency and manage costs, including deal registration opportunities; effectively communicating recommendations and changes to team members and clients.
  • Maximize opportunities for generating recurring revenue by incorporating value added services in proposals (e.g., post-purchase service and support packages, extended warranties, adoption and change management consulting, etc.).
  • Support AV Services team with troubleshooting of hardware & software issues during deployment phase as needed.
  • Work effectively with general contractors and design firms. Understand relevant documents, including: Bid drawings and specifications, contracts, project workbooks, subcontractor scopes of work, and construction schedules.
  • Stay current on AV/UC technologies, certifications, and best practices, particularly for Microsoft and Zoom platforms.
  • Become intimately familiar with the company’s product and service offerings, along with those the company integrates in order to develop best-in-class client proposals.
  • Some travel and periodic weekend availability may be required to meet client deadlines.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in sales engineering, preferably in the unified communications sector.
  • Strong understanding of collaboration technologies and applicability to client needs.
  • Ability to design and implement tailored collaboration solutions.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with design tools (e.g., D-Tools, AutoCAD, Visio, or similar) and commonly utilized office and project management software and tools
  • Experience with installation, programming and tuning of collaboration solution components

  • Understanding of structured cabling best practices, hands-on experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams / Zoom setup, configuration, testing, end-user training.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, target-driven environment with tight deadlines.

Training and Certification:

  • Certified Technology Specialist – Required, CTS-I or CTS-D Preferred
  • Microsoft Teams Room Technical Solutions Professional
  • Zoom Spaces Technical Sales Certification
  • Q-Sys Level 1 & 2
  • Q-Sys VisionSuite Level 1 & 2 and Quantum preferred
  • Crestron, Bi-Amp, Shure and Sennheiser preferred
  • Shure Technical Certification
  • Dante Level 1
  • Selected OEM Certifications
