Monthly Troubleshooting Q&A – September 2020

The purpose of this monthly Troubleshooting Q&A is to address and share some of the commonly asked questions that we hear from our end users as we help them solve their toughest issues. We wanted to share and make this knowledge accessible to all of our followers in the event you are experiencing similar issues.

Q1: How do you pair a Bluetooth headset to a second device? I’ve repeatedly tried with no success.

Regardless of manufacturer, the following steps are pretty much universal:

A1: The first thing that you should always do is verify the steps. You can reference them in the user’s guide/owner’s manual. (If one didn’t come with the headset, it usually can be found on the manufacturer’s website under the headset model’s page.)

The second thing, which is mostly universal, is that if the Power button & Bluetooth button are the same, then you would just hold down the power button beyond the headset turn on mode until it enters pairing mode, which usually takes about 3-5 seconds.

Then place your Bluetooth device in pairing mode to be found by the headset.

Q2: My headset was working fine, but then it suddenly stopped functioning correctly. I think I might need a new one.

A2: Typically when this happens, it’s usually due to one of three things: software/application changes, firmware updates for the headset, or mistaken user error.

Software/Application Changes

There was a patch or auto-run software update on the application being used, and the headset is no longer set as the default device, or default communication device. You would just need to go into the application’s settings and reset the headset as the default communication device.

Firmware Update

Each headset manufacturer has an application that you can load onto your PC, which you can check for firmware updates, and also personalize the settings of your headset.

You can go to the manufacturer website under support, then download the application and launch it. Examples of this would be:

If Firmware updates are available then you would just run the updates, and this may resolve the issues you’ve been experiencing.

User Error

Examples of mistaken user error are varied and so numerous that it would be difficult to address here, but you can always connect with us for support on your specific issues.
